The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) has announced 32 volunteering opportunities for qualified Tanzanian graduates in 2026. This is your chance to gain valuable workplace experience at one of Tanzania’s leading government agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

What Is WMA?
The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) is an Executive Agency established in 2002 under the Executive Agencies Act, Cap. 245. It operates under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and executes its mandate under the Weights and Measures Act, Cap. 340.
WMA is responsible for regulating and verifying measuring instruments used in trade and industry across Tanzania. The agency plays a critical role in protecting consumers and ensuring fair trade practices throughout the country.
WMA Volunteering Opportunities 2026 — All Available Posts
WMA is recruiting 32 volunteers across seven different cadres. The volunteering period is 12 months. Below is a complete breakdown of every available position.
1. Assistant Weights and Measures Officer — 18 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adjusting measuring instruments
- Caring for working standards
- Mobilizing working tools and equipment before and after field work
- Performing daily systems initialization and backups to computer systems
- Any other related duties assigned by superiors
Minimum Qualification Required: Diploma in Legal and Industrial Metrology from a recognized institution.
2. Weights and Measures Officer II — 8 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspecting, verifying and adjusting measuring instruments
- Keeping and maintaining working standards
- Advising on the verification and use of measuring instruments
- Investigating non-compliance with statutory requirements
- Any other duties assigned by superiors
Minimum Qualification Required: Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Legal and Industrial Metrology from a recognized institution.
3. Records Management Assistant II — 1 Post
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Searching and locating records, documents and files for office use
- Controlling and registering incoming and outgoing mails
- Analyzing, listing and arranging records according to subject classification
- Keeping letters and documents in respective files and racks
- Distributing files to respective officers and handling dispatch books
Minimum Qualification Required: Diploma in Records Management, Records and Archives Management, Corporate Information Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
4. Legal Officer II — 1 Post
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administering the Legal Registry
- Receiving and preparing records of recovery and repayment cases for Court
- Preparing monthly reports on legal matters attended
- Receiving and maintaining law periodicals, Government Gazettes and Acts of Parliament
- Assisting in legal and policy research related to the Agency
Minimum Qualification Required: Bachelor Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution. Must have attended and passed Internship or the Law School of Tanzania.
5. Public Relations Officer II — 2 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaising with communication and advertising agencies
- Participating in the implementation of marketing plans
- Collecting and processing information from various sources
- Implementing awareness and sensitization campaigns
- Preparing journals, bulletins, fliers and posters
- Capturing, processing and storing still and video images
Minimum Qualification Required: Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Communication or any related field from a recognized institution.
6. ICT Officer II — 1 Post
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing and testing databases
- Implementing security and access controls in databases
- Participating in server configuration, security and disaster recovery planning
- Assisting in testing application updates and enhancements
- Troubleshooting and solving database development problems
Minimum Qualification Required: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or any related discipline from a recognized institution.
7. Economist II — 1 Post
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participating in the collection of various data and statistics
- Preparing and distributing statistical and economic information
- Participating in drafting project requirements with stakeholders
- Participating in various research teams and preparing research reports
- Collecting inputs for the review of the strategic plan
Minimum Qualification Required: Bachelor Degree in Economics, Statistics, Agricultural Economics, Planning and Investment, Economic Planning, Project Planning and Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
General Conditions for All Applicants
Before applying, make sure you meet all of the following requirements:
- You must be a Tanzanian citizen aged between 18 and 35 years
- You must attach an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) with reliable contacts including postal address, email and telephone number
- You must attach certified copies of academic and professional certificates, transcripts and birth certificate
- You must have two guarantors who are Public Servants
- You must attach an introduction letter from your Village or Street Executive Officer or relevant Local Government Authority
- You must be willing to volunteer in the assigned area
- You must attach a copy of your National Identification Card (NIDA)
- You must not have been convicted by any Court of Law for criminal or disciplinary offences
- You must not have been employed by any Public Institution since graduation
- Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statements of Results and Form IV or Form VI Result Slips will not be accepted
- All foreign academic certificates must be recognized by TCU, NECTA or NACTVET
